Lincoln Park Modern: Calacatta Marble & Fluted Walnut Vanity


This Lincoln Park remodel is a high-end residential bathroom that integrates luxurious materials with a modern, minimalist aesthetic. The project transforms a compact space into a sophisticated sanctuary by balancing dramatic veining, tactile textures, and sleek, integrated technology.


The core concept centers on the extensive use of Calacatta-patterned marble tiles with dramatic grey and gold veining, which clad the floors and walls. This creates a visually expansive and cohesive environment. The design leverages contrasting textures, with the smooth marble offset by the warm, linear texture of a custom fluted walnut wood vanity. 


Design Highlights:


Floating ceiling: A seamless, flush-mounted ceiling with a clean recessed perimeter creates a soft architectural border that frames the entire space. Warm LED cove lighting runs along the tray edge, casting a gentle ambient glow downward across the marble walls — adding depth and dimension without competing with the room's natural elegance.


Modern Vanity: To maximize floor space and maintain the contemporary aesthetic, we installed a sleek floating vanity. It’s topped with a crisp, contemporary concrete sink and paired with minimalist matte black hardware.


Luxury Lighting: A frameless, LED-mirror provides perfect task lighting while adding a subtle touch of modern luxury.

Integrated LED strip: Lighting under the vanity provides soft, functional illumination that enhances the materials' rich textures. Sleek matte black fixtures and black-framed shower glass, add modern contrast.


Integrated technology: A bidet toilet with a digital control panel further elevates the luxury experience.


Heated floor: The luxury doesn't stop at eye level. Concealed beneath the continuous marble tile, a Schluter®-DITRA-HEAT system provides even, efficient warmth across the entire floor surface eliminating the cold-floor shock. Schluter's uncoupling membrane not only holds the radiant heat cable, but it protects the tile assembly from cracking and movement over time, ensuring the installation looks as good in ten years as it does on day one. Programmable by time of day and fully integrated into the room's smart controls, heated floors are the kind of detail you don't notice until you can't live without them.
